Drama Indeed

I feel like I don't have anything to write about most of the time, but there are some reasons behind that. One, I really am quite busy. I joined the play again, and so now I'm at school until six practicing every weekday. And the sophomore schoolwork isn't getting any easier. So it leaves me with very little time.

But I think a second, more interesting reason that I haven't been writing lately is because I've become quite numbed to the day-to-day drama that I used to be able to write about. But now it just doesn't seem interesting. That's not to say that there haven't been interesting things happening. How could I have not told all of you that my parents just got back from a cruise in Alaska, and that they were gone for a week? How could I have not told you about asking a junior out to homecoming and getting turned down (in my defense, she already had a date)? How could I have not told you about writing a song for a biology presentation? How could I not have told you about my older brother Michael, who recently started his own blog so he could write about his studying abroad? How could I not have told you about my uncle Brian's so called "intervention" for existential angst? How people keep putting games on the Bishop Kelly shared drive on my files? Or how I'm still working on Mondays, and just finished typing chapter 7? Or how I've already arranged/wrote two songs for the Bishop Kelly Band (one was Bittersweet Symphony, and the other was a "One Tin Soldier" Cover I wrote myself)? Or how I'm devising plans for another run for school president, involving the revival of the USJ and a musical performance for the speech? How I found (or rather how it found me) a way to save up basically all of my monthly allowance? How I honestly suspect that I've been subject to identity theft this month? How I heard about and found the entrance to Gnome-land (Bishop Kelly students, if you don't get this one, try asking around, you may be surprised)? And how I'm still trying to get together a functional band amidst all the chaos of my day-to-day life?

Shame on me.

You could say I'm taking for granted the randomness of life. I ought to think more about how lucky I am to be so strange and do so many things. By the way I've been posting, you'd think my life was dull.

Dull! Ha!

I laugh at the thought of me having a dull life. I have always tried to make my life exciting. And with a few exceptions in the long stretch of summer, I have always succeeded.

So look forward to some more regular posting from now on. Of course, if you do get bored, you can always switch 2 plan b...

World of Warcraft

Well guys it was only matter of time. Most of you probably already know-I'm a nerd. Or, well, I just have most of the characteristics of one. But of course it's really hard to classify me into any category unless you've got one titled "Joe" or "Other". But I am a gamer and a gaming nerd for that matter. So really it was only a matter of time before I was naturally drawn to World of Warcraft, the same way that carpenters are naturally drawn to a Lowes store.

But of course I'm not paying for the game! Blizzard has set up a ten-day free trial system for the game but there's no way to keep someone from going through it more than once. In other words, I get to play on a trial account for ten days and then when that one runs out I get another. Genius huh? I doubt I'll buy it but I have to say that it is pretty damn fun.

If any of you are interested in trying world of warcraft free for ten days (or more if you do it my way) then go here.

If you're not interested, then here is why you should be.

Trust me, it's worth trying.

Oh the epic quality of this game... to stand there with the Alliance by my side... you really have to play it to understand.

Keeping My Mind Off Things

With all that's been going on lately, I've been looking for fun, comforting things to keep me occupied and distracted. There's two things really.

One is that my blog is doing quite well. This used to be kind of a pressure, but these days it's more of a relief and convinces me to write well. Positive feedback and new readers have done me and my writing well. I'm glad that after these months of writing I'm finally getting more readers.

The second distraction, is, of course, video games. I confess; I am quite a nerd. And quite a Nintendo fan actually. Since my Wiimote sensor bar is low on battery, I've gone back to a few of the Gamecube games. Most of all, Pikmin. And I've noticed something. Nintendo has either:
A.) A boatload of creativity
-or-
B.) A boatload of drugs.
When you've been a fan as long as I have, you'll realize how true this is.

At any rate, getting my mind off things did have repercussion. Fast forward. It's 11:00. I'm lying in bed because I can't get to sleep. Suddenly I realize something. An English that's about half my grade is due tomorrow. Son of a...

So I dragged my nauseous, teary ass out of bed and dragged it downstairs to start writing. And two hours later, after finishing, I dragged my ass back upstairs. It still took me a half-hour to get to sleep. You'd think I'd be tired. Just need more sleep...

If that blasted website does what it promises, this should work. If not, it makes for excellent blog filler.

The Sidebar

Recently I have been getting a lot of hits thanks to the links on my sidebar. After taking a look at it I realize that I'm going to need to explain it a little bit.

About Me: This is just a little description of me and what I blog about. It doesn't really matter much, but if you're visiting this blog, I'd appreciate it if you took a look at my profile so I can get a better idea of how many people read.

Other Good Blogs: These are all the blogs that have affected me:
Switch 2 Plan B - My uncle's blog and the one that inspired me to start.
The Musings... Master Seth - A friend of mine started this blog, and while he's probably done, his posts are really good stories; almost Homeric.
Ricky's Blog - Seth's friend. Not much of a blog but it's interesting to see all the connections that blogs build.
Dan's Toy Museum - I thought this one was kind of quirky and decided to link it when Dan left me a positive comment on my 'A Difference' post.

Cool Links (non-blogging): Well these are the games and they've gotten me a lot of visits. Here's what they are:
Age of War: This is a fun little war flash game. Survive and destroy the enemy base by building turrets, soldiers, and evolving.
Red: An addictive little flash game, and you can finish a game in about three to five minutes. My high score is 893 seconds! Can you top that?
Missile Game 3D: Another addictive little flash game. Gets pretty difficult later on. Be sure to set your settings to touchy.
Tower Defence: I love this little tower defence game. One of my favorites.
Onslaught 2: This one's much like tower defence but a little bit different, with combos and different affects and all sorts of fun stuff. (doesn't work at school)
Stick Avalanche 2: Apart from several sexist jokes between levels, this is a timeburning little flash game where you dodge a bunch of falling ice.
Slime Soccer: Possibly the funnest multiplayer flash game around. If you're bored and by a friend, this is for you.
Hell of Sand: This game doesn't really have a point, but it's really fun. Just try it out and experiment!

Blog Archive: Here's a list of all of my posts. I've done like sixty-five now! Impressive.

A Guide To Alcatraz014: I put labels on all of my posts and now it's categorized. Just click on a word to see posts with that label.

Well that's all!

Well I've made it. It took a month and a half, but my profile has finally gotten past 100! HOORAY!!! HURRAH!!! ALCATRAZ014 FOREVER!!! etc.

Of course, I didn't do this on my own. If you've noticed, there's a list of non-blog links on the sidebar. Those are all games that are accessible from school, and since adding them, I've gotten alot of people coming for the conveniency of not having to google their game everytime they want to play. I don't mind, I think it's a worthy addition to the sidebar.

Let me give you an overview of Friday and Saturday. Friday was unproductive, and I got my phone taken away. Somewhat ironically, I was taking a picture of Seth to send to a website so he could use it when Mr. Worrell caught me. He took it away, but not before I could press send. The problem is that when you send a picture to blogspot, it sends a text back, and I've got my phone set to vibrate every minute when there is a new message until it is read. So when the phone was taken to the dean of students, he had to deal with it vibrating on and off all day, rattling in his metal desk. When I finally got it back at the end of the day, he said he had wanted to throw it out the window. I shrugged and took it back gratefully.

After school I went home and lounged around. A doctor called about dad's chemo, and after a few melancholy, worried moments, we decided to try to spend some time together by watching Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. After watching it a second time, I think Gandalf represents Moses. But that could just be me after all. I had a really good time sitting down with my family.

At any rate, I was about to go to bed when my friend called me up and asked me whether or not I was going to the dance that night. I was halfway to bed and it seemed absurd to go anywhere at the time, but I decided to call for a ride and go. And so like my friends, I ended up dancing to obnoxious rap songs that I didn't care for. But I danced nonetheless. If you can call what I do dancing. I can't. It's more like bouncing up and down in time with my hands at my sides. But as far as I can tell, that's what all the guys were doing, unless they were there with someone, in which case they would do the same thing with their hands on a girl's hips. And I've noticed something. Nobody ever looks at each other in a slow dance! They just stare around them looking at other people. Well that's American dances for you, eh?

I'll fill you in on Saturday tomorrow, I'm gonna get some sleep.
